Alsace Harvest 2026: Grand Cru Frankstein and the Final Stretch

The Alsace harvest 2026 is almost coming to an end. Indeed, these past few weeks have been intense at our Schaeffer-Woerly family estate. Thus, we are delighted to share with you the highlights of these final harvest days.

The Magic of Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Frankstein

On Thursday, September 24, our team tackled an emblematic plot. We harvested the magnificent grapes of our Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Frankstein. Moreover, the sanitary quality of these grapes is simply exceptional this year. Furthermore, the aromas are already very promising for this future organic vintage.

To preserve the freshness of the grapes, we always harvest very early in the morning. Consequently, the team enjoys magnificent landscapes. This Thursday, from the top of the plot, the view over the Rhine plain and the Black Forest was spectacular. Thus, the rising sun accompanied our brave harvesters.

The Harvest is Soon Ending in Scherwiller

The pace is slowly winding down, as we only have two afternoons of picking left. Recently, we were in our beautiful Gewurztraminer plot located in Scherwiller. From there, the view of the Ortenbourg and Haut-Koenigsbourg castles is breathtaking. Ultimately, this Alsace harvest 2026 will have offered us memorable panoramas every day.

Still Very Dry Weather

This year, drought has been the key word of the season. Indeed, despite our resilient granite soil, the rain is still heavily delayed. However, this dry weather offers us incredible morning skies. For example, the morning clouds sometimes distort the sun in a fascinating way.

Our Heritage: The Magic of the Vineyard Rocks

Our terroir is not just about our vines. Indeed, our vineyard is surrounded by mysterious rocks that make up the richness of our local heritage. Thus, at the bend of a path, you might stumble upon a surprising stone. Recently, a rock was even transformed into an amusing dragon thanks to ceramic eyes!
